For this assignment, we needed to write a speech and present it to the class. The speech needed to have all that is listed below in that order:
I chose this assignment because it was the easiest to upload here and the other assignments I've done in Social Studies are all over the place. I don't want to piece them together one by one since I put separate topics on separate documents, so that's part of the reason I chose this assignment. This assignment was also a good way to train my voice, which I need a lot of work on, and coming up with good reasons was something that I enjoyed doing. From this assignment, I learned that Athens doesn't have a perfect democracy. Even though it never had one since specific people couldn't participate in politics (slaves and women), I learned that the Athenians also didn't allow people a lot of freedom of speech. They couldn't speak their mind. Trying to change parts of the government to make it better should not really be counted as a serious offense.
- Introduction
- Counter-argument
- Two body paragraphs supporting your argument and
- Conclusion.
