Marking Period 1
For the first marking period, we were studying Native American history. We learned about Christopher Columbus again, we learned about how the Native Americans were involved in the Wounded Knee Massacre, and we learned about the Wounded Knee Massacre 2.
We also did the mock trials, which is where we pretend we're "in court". We had three trials to judge: the King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella trial, the Andrew Jackson trial, and the Leonard Peltier trial. Each person in the class was assigned a trial and which side: defense or prosecution. The rest of the people who aren't part of the trial are the jury and the teacher is the judge. I was on the Leonard Peltier prosecution team. Below is my case brief for the trial.

Marking Period 2
For this marking period, we're learning about the revolutions of America: the American Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, and the Digital Revolution. We also had to give a final speech in front of the class about who to nominate into our Revolutionary Hall of Fame, but before that we did two practice speeches. The first speech had to be about the American Revolution and the second one had to be on the Industrial Revolution. The last speech could be on any of the revolutions. The second one we had to present in front of the class and our first speech was performed in front of a small group. Below are all of my speeches.
My First Speech (American Revolution):

Marking Period 4 (and the rest of Marking Period 3)
For this marking period, we began to learn about modern day slavery. To learn more about this, we had to do four slavery homework assignments. Below I have all of mine, listed in the order they were handed in, if you're interested in looking.

We also started preparing for a Model UN debate assignment, which would be our final project/assignment for the year. The class was split into teams of two and given a country of which we had to write a position paper for as well as research on the country's position on human trafficking and child labor. My partner and I got the country of China and I'm writing the position paper on human trafficking while my partner's doing the one on child labor. It hasn't been submitted yet, so I'm not uploading it here as of now.
